Which should I choose: synthetic or human hair?
Synthetic wigs offer great value through price, easy daily maintenance, durability and appearance. Synthetic wigs come with memory fiber, built-in wave or curl pattern that holds its style unless the wig is not well cared for. A Synthetic wig is made with small, light wefts that look like natural hair, and they are much easier to style than real hair. Just a quick shake and your style returns to it's original look. Some synthetic wigs are made with a monofilament (transparent and hand tied) top that looks exactly like your scalp with individual hair that appears to be growing out of the scalp. The 100% hand-tied cap is the most exquisite cap and makes wigs look very natural.

Human hair wigs are more expensive than synthetic wigs.(About three times the cost over synthetics) The maintenance on human hair is basically like your own hair. The must be cleaned, conditioned and styled like you would your own hair. You can use blow dryers, curling irons, hot rollers, and straighteners on human hair wigs. Human hair wigs may be permed and colored but be sure to have a qualified stylist perform these services, as wig hair is extremely porous and easily damaged by chemical services.

Do wigs come in sizes?
Yes they do. Circumferences are Petite- (21"), - Pet/Avg.- (21 1/4") - Avg.-(21 1/2") -Avg./Lg. (22 1/2") - Large - (23"). Wigs also have tabs in the back that let you move them to make the wig larger or smaller. Also small tabs in the front of the ears can be adjusted to hold the wig close to the face.

How do I know what color to choose?
Some people want to match their own hair color so if that is the case you may want to borrow or purchase a color ring before actually placing your order for your wig. Color rings will give you a more accurate selection.  The names are very descriptive. Most companies have similar colors but not exactly the same so if you are an experienced wig purchaser you may have an easier time choosing colors. Looking at the online colors can be a little difficult to really get the proper hue as each computer screen is a little different. If you call us for assistance with color selection will be able to aid you understanding the colors but can't help you decide which color to select.

How do I achieve a natural lookin choosing my first wig?
Looking for a wig that appears to have less hair than some of the really full ones could help with that on your first wig. If this is not your first wig then you already know what miracles can happen when you have a wig specialist who can thin out at least 10% to 30% of the hair. Think of it like you are picking a dress off the rack. You know it will look OK but will look awesome once you take a little tuck here and there. We are able to customize your wig for you in our salon if you are in our area or plan to be visiting our area.

Can I cut my wig?
Yes, however if you are considering cutting or thinning your wig, we recommend you take your wig to a hair stylist who is experienced in cutting wigs. Not all hair stylists are experienced in alternative hair customizations. Remember, this procedure is permanent.

Can I color my wig?
We do not recommend coloring your wig with dyes or bleach. This may damage the fibers. Synthetic wigs will not accept color and it can damage the fiber if you try to process color into it.  Human Hair wigs can be colored and should done only by a professional.

How do I care for my wig?
The original style of your synthetic wig can be preserved if you wash and care for it properly.  Keeping your wig clean and free of perspiration and environmenta  elements will help with longevity.  Be sure to keep your wig away from direct heat and steam (such as: opening oven and dishwasher doors while in front of them, spas, heated curling irons and rollers, straightening irons, steam on top of range, and any direct heat. Smokers should be extra careful when lighting your cigarettes)

The following are a few suggestions for your maintenance regiment:

SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER

It is super important that your synthetic wig be cared for with the proper products. Human hair (which is protein) has cuticle while synthetic fiber has a surface. To clean and condition a synthetic fiber must be a two step process. The first step is to clean; the second step is to apply a protective adherent we call Wig Conditioner. Your wig should be washed approximately every 60 hours of wearing.

1. CLEANING. Place your wig in a shallow sink of cool water containing enough shampoo to produce a low level of suds. ( One capful into water. Do Not Apply product to wig, put shampoo into water.) NOTE: NEVER USE HOT WATER. If you do, you will loosen the curl or frizz the synthetic fibers. Let soak for ten minutes only. Rinse thoroughly in cool clean water inside and out. Lay the wig on a towel and gently blot. Do not wring or twist. Put over your wig stand to dry over night. It is ok to clean two wigs together but more should be separate.

2. CONDITIONING. Once the wig is thoroughly rinsed with cold water, hold the nape (back base) of the wig and shake a couple of times. The shaking separates the fibers and allows you to spray conditioner into the base of the fiber. Spray evenly and lightly throughout the wig. Gently squeeze out excess but DO NOT RINSE!! Towel blot your wig. DO NOT PUT YOUR WIG ON A STYRO HEAD TO DRY! The collapsible wig stand is recommended for the cleaning and drying process.  The wig will stretch when wet as the styrofoam head is .   NEVER brush or comb your wig when wet. This will damage the fibers. Drying time depends on le larger than yours.  After your wig has dried, shake it out gently (remembering to never brush or comb a wig when it's wet.) Style with your fingers or small wig brush. Can't get much easier.
